Practical Budget Solutions

A school district’s budget is always a tricky subject, but if anyone has the experience to dive right in, it’s Steve Neurauter. He has the expertise to nitpick budgets and find areas to “trim the fat” while balancing the quality education that we all believe to be the foundation of a good community.

Steve Neurauter on the D89 School Board will mean:

  • Creating Inter-District Cost Sharing Agreements: Steve has had decades of practice in this space, finding strategic partnerships to reduce costs and leverage D89’s resources even further.

  • Working with local, state, and federal organizations: If any of you have ever poked around on government websites, you’ll know that finding grants or funding is a close-to-impossible (and very uncoordinated) task. Steve brings this know-how to the table, and isn’t afraid to look for ways to fund or expand new and innovative programs.

  • Getting more community involvement: Steve has a vision to engage the professional community in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton and Lombard, and create symbiotic relationships for educational and extracurricular program development.

  • Being transparent with the community: Steve understands the frustration that occurs when your tax dollars are spent in a way that may appear to be confusing. As an advocate for continued district transparency with regard to budgetary demands, he’s fully on board with ensuring any significant changes are communicated openly and candidly with the community. Implementation of any changes will always require a negotiation and compromise, but Steve knows these things should not occur until all sides have an opportunity to be heard.
